The purpose of my survey is to get the opinions of current GGC students.  I feel the hours of operation for the Academic Enhancement  Center should be extended and there should be more of a variety of tutors available for different subjects.  For example, I get to school at 8 am and would like to jump right into the tutor lab for answers to my questions but the doors do not open until the lead tutor arrives at 9 am.  I have often found that there is no one available until @ 9:15.  When I am allowed to enter the tutor lab there is usually 1 to 2 tutors available and they are usually tutoring the same subject matter.  So if I could get the opinions of fellow GGC students then I can see if anyone else feels the same way as I do; therefore I could take my responses to the Dean of students or else where to take action.

I was really surprised when I saw the results of the survey.  I asked a question pertaining to the hours of operation, and most responded that they definitely would take advantage of the tutor lab if additional hours were available.  After reviewing my results from the surveys,  I learned that more students attend day classes rather than evening/night classes here at GGC and that most students have heard of the tutor center and half have actually used it.  My question pertaining to needing specialized tutoring really made me understand the needs of my fellow GGC students.  I am not alone when it comes to needing academic help.  For instance, if you have a lab in the evening that has been eliminated or if your academic schedule consists of night/evening classes then you have very little time to fit in help from the tutor center.  Don’t get me wrong, I think the academic enhancement center is great and the staff do a great job but I do feel as though it would benefit students if there were more hours available and if there were at least 1 tutor for every subject.
